Today is Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday, commemorating the Last Supper Jesus held with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion. The name "Maundy" comes from the Latin word Mandatum, or commandment, because at the Last Supper Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment: to love one another.
